Production - Hardwere

I have picked this scene in particular to show the hardwere used and how we have used it in this particular scene it is obvious to the audience that it is a close-up shots.

Shot 1

This shot is a extreme close up shot is of a helmet covered in blood following by titles. For this shot we placed the camera ( on the floor and took a still shot. Leaving the background blurred and the main item being the bike helmet left in focus. Using no tripod or lighting here helped us create a cinematic and relastic camera shot. Furthermore we set each shot to last 20 seconds so we got the best angle and enough time so when it comes to editing it is easy to get the perfect angle. Although this is a still shot and nothing is moving the blood dripping down the helmet helped us to complete this.

Putting the white balance on and fixing the lighting to the correct tonal yet correct colouring foe the sequence.

We turned the focus lens onto the helmet by turning it right and making sure it was a clear and high definition shot.

Shot 2

During this shot we used a different shot. We used a tracking shot through the window, to show to the audience that somebody is watching. There was no tripod used in this shot. The camera was left on one of our team members shoulders so still but still shaken. The lighting was harsh but just natural lighting was used. This wasn’t decided in our shoot plan but we decided on the day that this could be a good idea.

We started this shoot by the forensics actor shouting “standby, camera rolling, action” and inside they started recording the camera and followed the detective.

Not much equipment was needed for this shot in particular

In this shot, we set up a vinten tripod to the height of our actor (playing the detective) so it is in the ‘front eye’ of the audience. Setting up the tripod at the right height gives the audience an idea of the facial expressions given of the actor as there is no dialouge in our sequence (meaning no microphone used). Putting the camera on top of the tripod by getting the height to the exact same as the aim of focus, by tightening the locks on the tripod, creating a straight and tight camera to create the perfect angle for the shot. Using the spirit level on the tripod to make sure that the camera is up straight and even.

We set record to the camera and left it for ten seconds before saying “action” and then left it to record until the shot we filmed stopped. This made it easier for camera control.

In this shot , we set up the vinten tripod on the height which fits this angle the best to get the perfect shot by tightening the locks on the tripod left us with a secure and straight camera shot for this scene. Futhermore, we put the camera on top and checked the spirit level to see how straight and levelled the camera is to get a good continuous shot which was important . In this shot the  titan tubes are used to give the effect of the a “police car” we Bluetooth connected them to one of our phones and picked blue and red flashing lights to give the affect that we wanted. Leaving the shot continuing for longer then the action,

incase their is parts that we wanted to use and so we made sure there is enough time when it cones to editing to get the best shot and to be easily edited when it comes to it.

During the production we used the 4k mini ursa camera and tripod to film what we neeeded for our opening title sequence. There was not much need for the tripod as much of our shots were handheld and on the floor.

Software

On the shoot day we used our electronic version of our storyboard and shot list to complete and work out how much of the shots need to be included. This was using online media.

Once the shot was taken we highlighted it and crossed of the sheet as done. This was helpful and successful as we could keep track alongside then using it into post production when coming to edit our sequence.

In Production we used the online messaging service of WhatsApp to chat and indicate to the actress when she is needed. This was helpful to communicate and quick for when the set was already set up with the camera equitment, tripod, props and more. So the actress didn’t have to spend all day waiting around, she came when she was needed and messaged her for the timings and costume ideas.
